Tech giant Razer has recently had its newest innovations stolen at the Consumer Electronics Show this past week. Two of its Project Valerie laptops, valued at more than a thousand dollars each, were thankfully the only things stolen. An official statement details that the theft happened at 4 P.M, right around the end of the show. This is not the first time Razer has been robbed. In 2001 burglars broke into their main headquarters and stole two other prototype laptops. Now the company is offering a $25,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of these suspects.

Project Valerie is a gaming laptop with 3 built in 4k, 17 inch monitors! The laptop also comes with high end hardware that can be compared to that of a gaming desktop. This project was supposed to be the next step in Razer’s laptop family that includes the Blade Stealth and the Blade Pro, both very expensive laptops. Now that years of research and development have vanished in a day, I believe that Razer will delay the release of their new product. This will, without a doubt, upset many enthusiasts that have been expecting the release of this innovation.

Not much can be said about the fate of the stolen prototypes. Many websites speculate that industrial espionage by competitors such as Alienware and Corsair are to blame for Razer’s headaches. If other tech companies such as Oracle and Hewlett-Packard have been accused of this in the past this may not be so hard to believe. But I think that it won’t take too long for laptops with similar features to show up in the market using the free R&D to make a cheaper product.
