The Powderpuff rally was a good introduction for the actual Powderpuff game on the day of April 27th.

The senior class consisted of 50+ Powderpuff players and 20+ cheerleaders. The junior class consisted of 40+ players and 20+ cheerleaders. The dances of the junior cheerleaders consisted of lots of routine with 4 flyers and hip-hop. The dances of the senior cheerleaders consisted of 3 flyers and hip-hop as well.

The entire rally included junior class football players that coached the juniors and senior football players that coached the senior class. They also introduced cheerleaders that helped choreographed the dances, captains, running back, and receivers. It then went into a nice opening with the Senior Powderpuff players that came out dancing.

After the dances, there was a game of tug of war in which there were 8 people on each side of the senior and junior cheerleaders. It went on for at least 30 seconds and ended with seniors winning. The end of the rally had a dance battle.

In my opinion, it was very bittersweet to me to come to my last rally of senior year. It was also nice seeing the Senior class come together for the last time. I loved seeing everyone put their spirit into Powderpuff.

One person that I interview about her thoughts on the rally is Vanessa Franco-Castillo, a Senior at James Logan. She spoke about the rally and states how she really enjoyed the performances of both the Juniors and Seniors. She explains how he was surprised by the flying skills of the boys because she was in cheerleading herself. She also describes how many of the skills of the cheerleaders pulled off some great stunts.

Going on, the questions I have asked was; how did you like it? She states, “I think saying that I couldn’t stop laughing and grinning through it all is enough evidence of how much I liked it! Seeing the boyds step out of their comfort zone and seeing the girls giving their all into encouraging the boys was really uplifting.

Lastly, the last question I asked was; As a senior how did it make you feel? She states, “ As a senior, watching the senior boys show off their cheerleading rally made me realize that this is our last year. This is the last year that were gonna be able to see out Powderpuff cheerleaders shaking their butts off and being thrown into the air!”
