This year, James Logan’s spring play was “The Imaginary Invalid”, a three-act performance written by the French playwright Moliere.

This play follows Argan (Erik Matibag), a miser and hypochondriac. The stingy Argan seeks a doctor for his daughter to marry, so that he can get free treatment. Throughout the play, the cast of characters attempts to cure Argan of his obsession.

There were two performances: Friday (which I attended) and Saturday. The entire drama team was practicing hard up until Thursday, which really contributed to their performance. Personally, I felt the acting was out of the ordinary, and I was impressed with the level of organization within the acts.

Robert Richardson, who directed the play, did a fantastic job in coordinating the actors. There was Toinette (Eliza Andrada), who attempts to get Argan out of his madness, and Angelique (Shanna Prasad), who is getting married to Cleante (Salvadore Suarez). Thomas Diaforius (Nathan Ng), whom Argan wants to marry his daughter instead, has some pretty serious problems, and his mother Madam Diaforius (Alex Haugan) was a total control freak.

Overall, each actor expertly performed his/her job, making the performance exciting from start to finish. If you have a little extra time on your hands, come check out another one of Logan drama’s performances, as it’s well worth a watch.
