The theme song of this Sunday‘s Wrestlemania 22 is “Big Time” by Peter Gabriel, and this year‘s card does not fail to live up to the big time feel. This year‘s pay-per-view is being highlighted by two main events from World Wrestling Entertainment’s Raw and SmackDown brands.

WWE Champion John Cena will be defending his title in a one-on-one match against Triple H on the Raw main event. Wrestlemania, which is being held in Rosemont, Illinois at the Allstate Arena is considered to be the biggest event in professional wrestling.John Cena is currently on his second title reign. He first won the WWE Championship at last year‘s Wrestlemania from John Bradshaw Layfield, and he enjoyed a 9-month reign before being beaten by Edge at New Year‘s Revolution. He regained his title at the Royal Rumble one month later when he forced Edge to tap out to the STF-U.Triple H, who has won some kind of version of the Heavyweight Championship 10-times before, gained a spot in the main event by winning the Road to WrestleMania Tournament, in which he defeated Ric Flair, Big Show, and Rob Van Dam.Jason Abeleda, who proclaims himself as the biggest WWE fan on campus, says he is anticipating this match up. “I‘m picking Triple H for this one”, he predicted.

For SmackDown‘s main event, World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle will be defending his title again Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio in a triple threat match.

Kurt Angle won the World Heavyweight Championship after winning a 20-man over-the-top rope battle royal during the January 10th edition of SmackDown. The battle royal was held due to Batista vacating the title due to a tricep injury that required surgery to be repaired. Angle has defended his title successfully against The Undertaker and Mark Henry.

Rey Mysterio gained his title shot by winning this year‘s Royal Rumble, a 30-man battle royal held annually and guarantees the winner a spot at the main event of that year‘s Wrestlemania. Mysterio, who is listed at 5‘4” and 165 lbs., holds the record for being the shortest and lightest WWE superstar to win the Rumble. He is also the only wrestler of Mexican desent to win the match.

Randy Orton challenged Rey Mysterio to put his title shot at Wrestlemania on the February 4th edition of SmackDown. Mysterio accepted, and the match between the two took place at No Way Out pay-per-view. Orton won the match by pinning Mysterio and holding the bottom rope. Orton was awarded the title shot, but SmackDown general manager Theodore Long re-added Mysterio due to the circumstances Orton won the match.

Senior Luis Lopez says this is the match he is most anticipating. “I‘ll be rooting for Rey Mysterio. I always root for the underdog and because of that
Mexican pride.”

Abeleda also gave his opinion on who will win the match. “Kurt Angle,” he answered, “so when Batista comes back he can kick Kurt Angle‘s (expletive).” Abelda expressed that his favorite wrestler was the former champion Batista, due to their common Filipino heritage.

The event will also hold the “Money in the Bank 2” ladder match. Three superstars from Raw and three superstars from SmackDown will be competing in a ladder match. The winner is guaranteed one title shot for their brands‘ version of the heavyweight championship for the 12 months following Wrestlemania. Superstars that will be representing Raw are Rob Van Dam, Shelton Benjamin and Ric Flair. SmackDown‘s representatives will be Matt Hardy, Finlay, and rookie
Bobby Lashley.

The Money in the Bank‘s debut was at last year‘s Wrestlemania, and the match type was well-received by fans. Lopez expressed his excitement for this year‘s match-up. “This match I‘m really looking forward to, and I hope it will be better than last years.”

– A no holds barred match between WWE owner Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels
