According to the statics of the AP testing scores, James Logan High School’s testing scores have been going down since 2013. Those interviewed said otherwise.

Abhi Brar, principle of James Logan High School, said “We are focusing on kids to take more AP classes since kids back then couldn’t join AP classes unless they were in G.A.T.E programs or they fund raised for it.” Abhi Brar says that the AP program has theories why students are failing. He states,

“Students may be taking to many AP classes and they can burning themselves out. Some students take three AP classes a year or maybe more and it maybe stressing them out. Or it could be since the AP test cost a lot of money to take, we’re thinking that they are pressured to do better on it.”

Thomas Seaton, an Honors English 1 and AP Literature teacher at James Logan High School, says “Students are taking so many test that they are getting over tested. Last year the juniors were over tested not just AP but the state test before the AP test. The consecutive weeks of testing for the juniors.

Tim Campbell has other theories on why AP testing scores are going down.

One of the teachers at Logan that teaches AP Literature and Language for Juniors has another theory on why students are failing. Tim Campbell says,

“Students are not really failing but it is the average of them that is going down. Kids are actually passing but the averages are going down since there are a lot of kids taking AP classes. Also when getting into college they only 3 to 4 AP classes so taking a lot of AP classes is sort of pointless.”
