The Freshman Council will be kicking off the year with devoting much time to a creative and entertaining Logan Land, and they plan to end the year by bringing to Logan students an interesting and engaging freshman class skit.

President Jaelynn Nguyen, Vice President Kayla Albano, and Class Representative Wade Condez all agree to not take big steps at the start of the year.

“Taking big steps as a freshman not knowing more about Logan and through Logan Land and their skits and such, I feel like we should ease into it first and then get comfortable,” Albano said.

As they are settling in, the Freshman Council is also taking inspiration from their predecessors to improve their own projects this year.

“I really like their creativity and the effort that they put into it was shown in the presentation of Logan land,” Condez said.

With this in mind, the Council is currently preparing for Logan Land. Albano says, “I’d like to point out the freshman class last year because they lacked a lot of participation, but still got to manage to finish it with little time.” However, the Council is not worried.

“I think we can handle it because our cabinet is pretty well-rounded with things. [Even] if we don’t have participation toward the beginning, I think students will ease into things and start participating more because it looks really fun,” Albano said.

Traditionally, the freshman class has less participation in many of the events. Although there are many factors that contribute to this, the officers are hopeful that this class will raise the game.

“Throughout the year, we’ll need a wide range of people to help no matter if you’re experienced or not and I think people will understand that better,” Condez said.

“Even time management [may be a problem] because I heard from last year that [my friend] Johan said ‘I eat, breath, and sleep skit’,” Nguyen said. Knowing the consequences, the council understands that they must manage their time properly. Albano and the other officers plan to communicate clearly and delegate tasks throughout the year in an effort to increase the class’s participation.

With a good idea of what to be careful of, the Council is also planning to put great effort into the skit. President Nguyen plans to incorporate some of what she has seen in the past as an example.

“I’d like to continue what they [the seniors from last year] had in there. They had color guard, and they had a lot of things that were cool and made it interesting,” Nguyen said.

Albano also wants to take advantage of the skit as a way to communicate with the freshman class. She says,

“I think since we’re in charge of our own skit, we can use skit as a way to communicate with our class and spread a message,” Albano said. “I feel like skit’s a way to express our story and something meaningful. Freshmen really don’t know what skit is, so hitting them by surprise can give them a fun lesson.”
