The Logan Boys’ soccer team are preparing to play their first league home game of the season this upcoming Friday against the American High School Eagles.
The Colts are a promising team in MVAL every season and this one should not be an exception. With many old faces still remaining from last years varsity team, the team has a strong base and their objective is to win league and hopefully make a deep run in NCS.
After a long preseason the Colts feel really confident and prepared. They know they can achieve their objectives by setting their mind to it. They have trust in the Coaches philosophy to “let the ball do the work,” meaning they will try to keep possession of the ball throughout the game, connecting passes through the midfield and slowly making their way up field to create scoring opportunities.
“ I feel confident with the team this year, we have a strong bond and that impacts how we play on the field. We have to work hard and learn from our mistakes,” said midfielder and captain, Jonathan Argueta (12).
On the other side of the spectrum, the Eagles came up short from the preseason, playing only two games against Carlmont and Kennedy High School losing both of them by 5-0 and 4-1. The stats show that the Colts are the favorites, having played stronger teams in their preseason. Even though anything can happen on the field, the Colts are aware of that. They know they have to be really careful and just play their game like they know how.
The Colts home opener is this Friday against the American Eagles at 6:00. Come out a support the Boys soccer team!
