Thor is back with his third, and best, solo movie. Thor: Ragnarok (PG-13) is perfectly mixed with action and comedy that will keep you laughing the whole movie.
Thor begins with an action-filled fight with Surtur, a fire demon, which is an excellent reminder of the power Thor has. Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, is finally reunited with his brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), under some pretty terrible circumstances. Hela, a new character who plans to take over the world, sends Thor and Loki to a new planet. Once they arrive, they meet new faces such asValkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). Thor is then forced to participate in a fight where he must face the Grandmasters’ champion, who just so happens to be his old friend, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Thor then attempts to form a team to go up against Hela and save his home planet, Asgard, and the rest of the world from complete destruction. The fight is beautifully done and any fan will appreciate how it plays out.
The two new female leads, Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett, are able to hold their own and add even more action to the film. Blanchett is the perfect mix of both evil and charisma that it just makes sense on how she got so powerful. Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, creates an amazing role model for young girls by showing how powerful women truly can be. She also shows that girls can be strong without having to fall in love with someone. Also the reunion between Thor and Hulk add to the many jokes in the film. The brotherly banter that Thor and Loki have show how much chemistry they have between all the typical brotherly bickering.
The amazing visual effects play a huge part in why this movie has such great reviews. The stunning colors and sets are truly breathtaking that any film lover will enjoy. The first indigenous director of the Marvel universe, Taika Waititi does a phenomenal job and shows how much representation matters especially in the entertainment industry. Although he received some backlash because people thought he was trying to set the movie like, Guardians of The Galaxy, anyone who knows Waititi’s’ work will understand that this is just how he creates.
Thor: Ragnarok is an amazing mix of action and comedy. It’ll keep you laughing the whole time while also watching epic fight scenes. Throughout the movie, you’ll be reunited with some familiar faces while also meeting many new ones. This is a film that you definitely don’t want to miss.
