Sophomore skit premiered Monday during lunch evoking some mixed responses.

The theme for the skit was “Shrek Tales” but the sophomores decided to take a different path to present the story. They focused more on the three I’s: intellect, integrity, and interconnectedness rather than the story of Shrek. This caused some confusion throughout the skit because many people didn’t understand what was happening half the time. The band and ballet folklorico really stood out as crowd favorites, being the most well-executed. It seemed as though they added more dances instead of creating a stronger plot line. At times, the talking parts would end abruptly, leaving the audience confused and uninterested.

Junior, Roxanne Ramos said, “It had potential,” but, “the execution failed.” She also said, “Incorporating the three I’s seemed very forceful and more about using them instead of having a better quality of the performance.” However she did think that, “The dances were creative.”

Senior, Richard Pabalate said, “It was cool,” and that, “the dances were entertaining.”

Erika Venegas, Senior, said,”They could have bettered the actual storyline more,” and said she felt that, “it was a lot of dancing but at least they tried.”

All in all, the sophomores did a good job on executing their dance numbers. They could have focused more on the quality of the talking parts instead using the three I’s as much as they could. At least there’s still freshman, junior, and senior skits to look forward to later in the week.
