Wear the World. That’s what Serengetee’s phrase is. If this is the first time you are hearing of Serengetee, you are definitely missing out. Not only does it have tons of fabrics and items you can choose to put them on, but it’s also a great cause. I was able to talk to a freshman here at Logan, Molly who gave me a bit more insight on what the website is.
James Logan Courier: So if I were first hearing about Serengetee, how would you explain it to me?
Molly: Serengetee is a company out of California who buy fabrics from countries all over the world. They buy fabrics from the Philippines, Guatemala, and a bunch of others. They buy them from artisans put them on t-shirts. 5% of the profit the t-shirt makes it goes back to that same artisan in that same country.
JLC: You say it helps with different causes. What kind of causes does it help?
M: They give back money to each of these artisans and actually they go to get the fabric from the country and they’ll help rebuild the city’s that they get them from too.
JLC: Do you order from there often?
M: Yea, I do a lot.
JLC: What’s your favorite thing about the site in general?
M: The clothes are really nice and I like how it can express your feeling through clothing and it goes to a good cause.
JLC: Do you ever see or notice anyone at Logan who wears it?
M: I’ve noticed a few. A friend of mine actually has some but it’s pretty rare actually.
JLC: Do you have a favorite design from the site?
M: I really like one I got a couple weeks ago. It’s from Australia, it has sharks on it. I can’t remember the fabric. It helps to support wildlife in Australia who are being hurt by oil spills.
As you can tell, buying things from the website is not only for your benefit, but also for other people who actually need help. You don’t have necessarily buy a shirt, you can buy a phone case, bag, or even headphones. Like Molly said they use nice material and it’s definitely worth your money. Plus, it’s for a great cause. So if you haven’t already check out the website, browse, possibly buy something, and spread the word about it!
