Well, the new middle school craze has now reached high school.
The latest fad, a fidget spinner, consists of one bearing in the middle to have a grip and several weights on the side in order to counter the weight as it spins. They are made of various ranging from plastic, stainless steel, brass and titanium.
The spinner was originally designed for kids with ADHD, who tend to have trouble in keeping their focus or fidgeting. It works its magic through the use of release mechanism; any nervous energy caused by stress is all released while utilizing the spinner.
While the spinner definitely has a medical aspect, it is now being used for the pleasure seeing and feeling it spin. As of early 2017, designs have been made to improve its aesthetic look, and some have gone far as to even modify the axis into blades.
Cameren Brown, a Logan student, says “I think it’s just another kendama faze; people will eventually get tired of it and move on.”
Vince Santos, a fidget spinner user, says “It’s fun to use, even when I’m doing something in class, I keep it on my hand while it spins and it rids me of any fidgeting.”
Try out the fidget spinner for yourself, and test out the newest teenage fad today.
