Snow in the Bay Area is an extremely rare occurrence, and it happened this past weekend for those that lived in the higher-altitude areas. Most residents were expecting rain, but instead they got a dose of hail. The hilltops were dusted with snow and Mt. Diablo looked stunning after this uncommon event.

At the time that the hail started dropping from the skies, I was outside and immediately had to take shelter, to avoid being pelted by them. John Macantan thought that “it was pretty cool,” since getting any sort of ice from the skies in the Bay Area is so rare.

Lately the weather in the Bay has been pretty unpredictable, with extremely cold mornings, and fairly warm afternoons. Some people are alarmed due to the unnatural pattern the weather has taken, and the hail and snow just causes them even more worry. Let’s hope that the weather settles down as summer approaches.
