On September 23rd of the 2014-2015 school year, there was a problem with the James Logan pipes. School authorities kindly asked all students to evacuate from the school premises immediately after school in order to fix the plumbing system. There were to be no students on the James Logan school grounds after 3:45 pm.
Because of this incident, many students were questioning if school would be held the next day. Later that day a junior at James Logan posted a picture of an announcement that was posted onto the school website to Twitter. The announcement that was posted said that school would be cancelled for September 24th, 2014. Many James Logan students that had a twitter believed this announcement.
The junior who posted the picture of the announcement then deleted the twitter post, and confessed that it was just a joke. “I made the post just to mess around with my friends in a group chat, then I ended up putting it on twitter,” the anonymous 11th grader stated, “I thought the tweet would get like 2-3 favorites or something, but in like 5 minutes, I had like 30 retweets.”
Many students believed the prank only because it was posted onto the school website. “I did it by changing the websites scripts,” the junior informed us, “the consequence was one day of suspension, only because it was my first offense.” When asked if he regretted this prank, the student answered with an unsure tone, “I don’t know, because people actually like me more because of the whole thing.”
Although this student made a decision that caused him suspension, other students praised him because of his cleverness in regards to pranks. The student also confirmed that no one was affiliated with this whole prank.
