Free admission will be granted to teens who visit the de Young art museum on March 2.
This is all part of an event called Teens Take Action! Students only need to bring their student ID to gain free admission to the de Young Art Museum in San Francisco. The goal of this event is to provide a platform for teens where they can discuss issues like race, equality, and human rights.
The event includes gallery activities, music, dance, and collective art making. Teen-led performances will also be hosted and multiple youth organizations will be present.
The main exhibition that is being displayed is a collection of 62 contemporary works by African American artists from the Southern US called Revelations: Art from the African American South.
Visitors can also view other exhibitions like The Māori Portraits: Gottfried Lindauer’s New Zealand, which showcases portraits of the Māori people of New Zealand by famous painter Gottfried Lindauer, and Genre-Nonconforming: The DIS Edutainment Network; a collection of films, documentaries, cartoons, and talk shows displayed on 36 LED screens that “reveals a ‘DIS-topian’ take on the future of education” which will be displayed in March.
