In between the crowded hallways and the packed classrooms of Logan, there are many talented and amazing students. Salvador Esquibel is one of the many students here at Logan, as described by his friends and teachers he is a very humble and charismatic person, one whom it’s impossible to interact with and not end up with a smile on your face. Almost like it’s contagious!

Known as ‘Chava’ by his friends and family, he’s part of many different extracurriculars here at school.  Chava is part of the Puente Program, MEchA Club, and part of El Ballet Folklorico de James Logan High School, where he works and practices extremely hard to perform many beautiful regional dances.

Chava states, “I started [ballet folklorico] where everyone else did, I had two left feet, I couldn’t dance for nothing,” he added that “it’s just a matter of being there every practice, observing, asking questions, and doing it over and over again even if that means staying after practice and learning how to do the dance one-on-one for a more precise outcome.”

When asked what his favorite thing about Logan was, Chava answers with,  “My favorite part of Logan has to be the diversity.”

As a senior at Logan, Chava has much to look forward too. He has a Puente banquet, Raza graduation, and his annual Ballet Folklorico show in May. The show will be a bittersweet moment as it’ll be his last performance for Logan and his senior night.

“I’m very happy, it’s always something to look forward too, especially to have my friends and family supporting me. It will be sad though, I was part of this group for four years.”
