Robert Pattinson, also famously known as Edward from Twilight, has officially been cast to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves’s upcoming movie titled, The Batman. There are many mixed feelings in Matt Reeves pick for Batman, but Christian Bale, the previous Batman from The Dark Knight series, actually gave Pattinson some praise.

“He’s an absolutely fantastic actor, wonderful choice for Batman,” Bale said. Even Maggie Gyllenhaal, also from The Dark Knight movie series playing Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend, thinks that Pattinson will make an “amazing Batman.” All this praise should be a good confidence booster for Pattinson.

This upcoming movie is going to take a step towards more of a detective film, so there will most likely not be as much action compared to other Batman films. Previous films erased this part of the character’s narrative arc. Batman has a detective based history that the other movies didn’t really explore. Previous directors were focused on making the Batman that everyone loves — the all-fighting Batman that constantly has to remind people that he’s Batman. Matt Reeves wanted to go in a new direction and try something new.  He wants to show the side of Batman that previous directors tossed to the side.

The Batman is going to be the first part of a trilogy that Matt Reeves plans to make. It’s going to be a younger Bruce Wayne/Batman, maybe in his twenties. The directors are going to show how he started his crime-fighting job by solving crimes and busting criminals. This type of filming is going to display Bruce Wayne’s true intellect and knowledge.

It was rumored that there will be up to 6 villains appearing in this film. According to imdb.com, Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano have signed on to play Catwoman and The Riddler, respectively.

Audiences love seeing the caped crusader in action, but the question is: can The Batman prove that a superhero movie can triumph without being 80% action. Many viewers think it will be something interesting to see.
