Courier Staff Report
After announcing her departure from Logan to take an Associate Superintendent position in a Contra Costa County school district, Principal Amy McNamara sent the following statement to the Logan staff:
“The last 6 years have absolutely, without a doubt, been the highlight of my 18 year career in education. There has never been a day since I came to Logan when I have not gotten out of bed excited to come to work. There have been days I was looking forward to a fresh start from the day before (right?), but always I have loved my job, the teachers, the support staff, and, of course the amazing, brilliant students we have.
“I started this year off very happy to be here but also reflecting on my 11th year as a high school principal. I felt this spring I was ready to learn something new and try to stretch myself once again. Last night I was appointed the associate superintendent of Acalanes Union High School District. I am excited for the opportunity – a setting very different from Logan, but with great people who I already know will make me feel right at home.
“I am truly sad to leave my colleagues and friends here who have made all the difference in my career. I have been so fortunate to work in a place with a patient, understanding staff who have forgiven my mistakes. You’ve all run with some amazing ideas to make this school a better place and it has been a pleasure to support your hard work and cheer you on.
“Thank you, everyone. The best part of this will be the transition from principal to friend – I look forward to many years of friendship and laughter with you. I will always be rooting for Logan and its wonderful staff and students. “
