On Tuesday, March 27th, the freshmen performed their skit during 4th period lunch but received backlash from one person in the audience.
During the freshman skit performance, one student threw oranges at the students performing three times.
As this student threw oranges, it took away from the freshman skit’s time. Many students in the audience were busy looking back, trying to figure out who the student who threw the oranges was. Students stopped paying attention to the skit.
One student, who prefers to remain anonymous, knew who the student who threw the oranges was and decided to confront him.
Although we didn’t get the name of the orange thrower, we know that he wears a cast. He tried to deny that he threw the oranges but, many students witnessed him throwing them.
Some students had negative things to say about how the orange-throwing affected their freshman skit experience.
“It was painful to watch the skit, I felt bad for the freshman.” said Kyle Tenchavez, a senior.
Another senior, Sheris Mendiola, said, “If that student just came to skit to be disruptive, he shouldn’t have gone.”
Not only was the throwing of oranges the only distraction, many groups of boys who sat in the back of the audience mocked the freshman as they were performing.
They were repeating the freshman’s script in a sarcastic way but also booing the freshman as the skit continued.
One student and his friends yelled, “Freshmen suck!”
Another group of boys, who were sophomores, started booing the freshman whenever they changed scenes.
This happened twice. Maybe not exactly the orange throwing, but it happened to my friends and I when we watched Sophomore skit. This group of guys kept throwing food and objects at the people near us. One of my friends almost got hit in the head with a full water bottle. It was disruptive and was dangerous. I told the teachers who were watching to pay attention to that corner and nothing happened. I’m honestly disappointed that none of the teachers paid attention to what I had said. It was the same corner that the oranges were being thrown at.
