“Love, Simon”, this year’s highly anticipated book-based movie, is going to hit the theaters on March 16, 2018.

The movie is based off on the book, “Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda” written by Becky Albertalli.

Simon is a seemingly normal teenage boy trying to survive high school. However, Simon is also struggling with being gay and still in the closet and he has a pen pal, Blue, who is also in the closet. Neither of them know who the other person are because they use code names.Things get complicated when Martin, one of Simon’s classmates sees Simon emailing Blue uses it to blackmail Simon in order to get a date with one of Simon’s friends.

Simran Kalkat, a senior, says she thinks that “the book is a happier version of Perks of Being a Wallflower.”

The movie stars Nick Robinson who plays Simon Spier. Robinson is best known for his role as Ryder Scanlon in the sitcom “Melissa & Joey” and the role of the love interest, Olly Bright, in the movie “Everything Everything”.

Other actors and actresses include Katherine Langford who plays Hannah Baker in the Netflix series “Thirteen Reasons Why”, Miles Heizer who plays Alex Standall also in “Thirteen Reasons Why”, Alexandra Shipp who plays Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, as well as many others that people know and love.

Many people who have read the book are especially excited to see the book to movie adaptation.

When asked about how she felt about the upcoming book to movie adaptation, Jessica Ho, a senior says “I’m looking forward to the movie because I want to see Simon and all his angsty glory and I want to see him get through everything and finally end up with the hot boy.”

Another 12th grader, Sukhmani Batra, says “I’m looking forward to it, I want to see what they do with the book.”

Come out to the movies on March 16 to see a wonderfully sweet YA novel come to life.
