Parking cars outside is not safe anymore–recently twenty cars windows got smashed and were broken into near the townhouses at Contempo Park.
The wreckage started from the street near Saint Anne’s church to Polaris Avenue in Union City. There were shattered pieces of glass across the street curbs, and many people removed their cars from their parked locations.
As for other observations, my neighbor Romy Kapoor stated “The cars that they were breaking through were the nice ones because I noticed that all the old ones in the between the smashed ones were perfectly fine.” This is true because on the street, my family parked two cars together in one area alongside each other. The old car wasn’t even touched, while the other car’s driver side and passenger windows was smashed through.
Additionally, the glove box was opened even though it was locked before, and all the papers stored in it were ripped apart and thrown out. Since the incident occurred on a rainy day, all the cars damaged quickly became wet inside.
Most likely, a gang committed this crime, as one person is not capable of wrecking all these cars alone. They were most likely trying to obtain money or valuables in the cars, despite that a majority of people would rather store them in homes.
The surprising fact was that no alarms started ringing from the cars, or else somebody would have heard the sound during the nighttime, when the wreckage occurred. The police was not contacted until morning, which was when the police report got filed.
Crime and violence is Union City is steadily increasing. It is advised, thus, that you park your cars in garages whenever possible.
