Students all over James Logan High have mixed feelings about the school’s not-so-nutritious lunch.
Thousands of students across the world eat school lunch everyday, and all having very different opinions of it. Some students can agree that the lunch their school serves is unappealing, and with the increasing prices, not worth it. However, some do not complain and claim that some of the meals sold are actually good. Nonetheless, something that we all can agree on, is that the food is not as healthy as they make it seem to be.
There are a variety of meals that the school offers to students at Logan such as pastas, salads, sandwiches, chinese food, pizza, etc. Yet most of them either look or taste very unappetizing. The school sells reduced fat and baked chips, but neglect to make a change in the type of food they sell. Most of them are frozen foods that are heated up every day during lunchtime.
A lot of the students at Logan say that if they had more times in the morning, they would bring their lunch instead of buying from here. Since they don’t, they eat the food given at school because it is the only thing they can do unless they want to go hungry. Out of the students that were interviewed, almost all of them agreed that the school lunch is disgusting and that the least the school should do is have open lunch. That would allow kids to go out and buy lunch in places where they actually enjoy the food and wouldn’t mind to waste their money on it, although it isn’t a healthy alternative either. Instead, students get in trouble almost every day for leaving campus during lunch without permission to get food. This is a problem that would be avoided if the school lunch was better or even open.
Logan should have a vote, although it’s pretty clear what we want, to see if students want to be able to leave and get lunch during their lunch time rather than eating school food. Although the school probably might lose some money or some kids don’t come back, the school should still reconsider open lunch.
