James Logan High School’s improv show is a student run production that guarantees people an hour of laughter.

The improv show is a very under advertised event that takes place multiple times throughout the school. This particular one on February 15, 2018 is the last one of this school year.

The show consists of four actors and one host. They play different games that involves either two of the actors or all of the actors.

The first game was a mock dating game show. One actor was the player looking for love and the others were the contestants. The contestants made up really interesting and hilarious hobbies such as one who was a different president every time the host touched his hair and another one who was a singer like Snoop Dog. The player chose the contestant who acted like Abraham Lincoln, but he pointed to the wrong person.

Here, we were introduced to brown bagging. Basically, an actor gets brown bagged if they do something wrong or inappropriate. So the player was brown bagged as was the actor who was a singer like Snoop Dog because Snoop Dog had other inappropriate hobbies.

Next, was a game called The Universal Remote. Two host had an imaginary TV remote and is able to control things such as volume or language as if he was watching actual television.

One of the two actors participating in this game was brown bagged so it was really funny watching him try to navigate the stage and find a sense of direction.

The prompt for this game was “What would you buy at the grocery store?” and one of the audience members gave the answer, “milk”. It was fascinating to watch as the acting went from a father and daughter buying milk at a grocery to the daughter taking over a milk empire when the host fast forwarded.

The next game played was called Time Cut. Basically the two actors act out a scene and then they have to act it out again in half the time. The time is cut in half over and over again until they only have one second to act out their scene.

The prompt was a date in New Zealand. There was nonstop laughter as the actors clearly struggled to get their scene done in time and ran around the stage in panic.

The last game of the show was Sentences. The audience, at the ticket booth, wrote notes on post it notes and the actors had to incorporate what the audience wrote into the scene. They would talk and then they would pull out a post it to finish their sentence with whatever the audience wrote. The game had the same fun and effect as Mad Libs.

The improv show was a lot of fun for audiences of all ages. The next time show comes around, be sure to check it out.
