Logan US History and LGBTQ studies teacher, Mr. Ellison, will be taking a month off from teaching for a hip replacement.

When asked about how he felt about the situation, Mr. Ellison said, “I feel terror, going under the knife so I’m taking this seriously because I never had an operation like this, but I am in the hospital for only one night.”

Mr. Ellison was diagnosed three years ago with arthritis in the left hip. It had been a problem for most of his life but it started getting worse in his twenties. When he played more sports his problem grew worse and his left hip started clicking.

Last summer he started having a hard time walking.  After all the medication and loss of sleep he talked to the doctors and came to the conclusion that it is time for a total hip replacement. The doctors told him that he will recover in around six to twelve weeks. This shocked Mr.Ellison but it was only a prediction so he is striving for only a month.

Mr. Ellison is confident that his long-time substitute Ms.Anderson will do a good job with the class. If you see him anywhere don’t be afraid to say hello, and let’s wish him luck, shall we.
