You’re on your first date, and your partner is running late. He arrives at your front door ten minutes late, looking all sweaty as if he went to the gym. He grabs your hand and brings you to his car to find him forgetting the tickets to the concert. Could this be your most horrific date yet? Here are some bad experiences of students who went on their first dates.
- “I was 14 years old when I went on my first date. My date and I went to the movie theatres and watched a horror film. It went well until we started to hold hands. My girlfriend’s hand was so sweaty that it made me feel uncomfortable. After releasing my hand from hers, we became awkward throughout the whole movie,”
- “My date was just awful. I was 16 when I went on my first date. Instead of going a restaurant or to the movie theatres, we went to Safeway. Oh my goodness, Safeway! We stayed there for an hour grocery shopping. I will never go on a date with him again,”
- “We went to IHOP on our first date. After ordering our foods, I tried to have a casual conversation with him. However, he would not look up from his cellphone. I sat in my seat awkwardly and waited for him to say something to me. After six minutes have passed, I became very annoyed with him and started to scream at him. He glanced up at me with a puzzled face and then I ran out of the restaurant without telling him goodbye,”
- “My date and I were at Union Landing for our first date. My boyfriend was short, so it felt awkward standing next to him. There was a moment where I had this weird impulse to pat his head like how I would pat a dog’s head. He then looked at me with disappointed eyes. I instantly felt sorry for doing that and made the date really embarrassing for him,”
Recalling back these first dates brings out laughter and makes us think of how the dates could have gone a lot worse.
