Logan will create a Disneyland themed, “Logan Land” for the first time ever. “Logan Land” will replace the floats that are usually displayed on the track.
The junior class is planning to transform the 300’s into an area modeled after the movie,
The Incredibles. The other class will model the other areas of the school based on their themes as well. The freshman have Up, Sophomores have Shrek Tales, and Seniors have High School Musical. Participating in “Logan Land” also allows students to gain community service and a chance to meet new people in your grade.
Junior Class president, Johan Casal, said “Mr. Malcolm was the first to talk about the idea of decorating the school. We officially couldn’t do float, so we started playing around with the idea of decorating other things… the idea of bringing a movie to life is an idea that kinda stuck with me.”
“We want it to be something that people can carry on from generation to generation” said Casal. “…it’s kinda cool that someone created the concept of doing float and that carried on through the years so that’s what we want to achieve with this new tradition.”
When asked what inspired them to pick the junior class theme, Casal said, “One thing we all kept in mind while choosing the theme that we wanted a one that would benefit our skit, float, spirit week, and something the majority of people would like.” He also mentioned that “the Incredibles just felt like the right choice. The idea of being able to use superheros is something that I’m excited to work with.”
The reason why the floats can no longer be on the 6 million dollar track is because the track has a holding capacity of only 400 pounds. The cars that would pull the floats would possibly damage the concrete.
As of now, Logan Land preparations have started and Logan’s social media pages have information on how to participate. Logan’s Instagram is @jimmysaywhaaa and Logan’s Twitter is @jimmysaywhaaa.
