On Thursday February 15th, 2018 James Logan High School hosted its first annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Caravan. Students can meet one-on-one with representatives from twenty college and university across the country.
Asianea Seymore said, “I thought the Caravan was very awesome and I think it helped a lot of people with their confidence as far as higher education. I received a $18,000 scholarship from John C. Smith University. The Caravan was very diverse with its students. The schools that accepted me were Bethune-Cookman University, Texas Southern University, Dillard University, Johnson C. Smith University, Langston University,and Philander Smith college.”
The HBCU Caravan also gives students from various backgrounds the opportunity to have their application fees waived as well as apply to receive scholarships.
Alicia Franklin said, “The host made the Caravan an amazing place. The Caravan host made everyone feel welcomed and announced when people got accepted into a College and Universities. I didn’t receive scholarships at the Caravan. There were multiple ethnicities at this event. Also, I got accepted into Tuskegee University, Bethune-Cookman University, and Shaw University.”
