James Logan College Night was on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 5:45 to 8:00 p.m. It was held at the center of performing arts. The presentation was mainly designed for juniors, nevertheless, all grade levels were welcome to come. The purpose of the event was to inform students about 2 and 4 year college requirements and financial aid. The goal was to explain the  UC, CSU, community college, and private universities systems. There were some exciting things going on as well. Free pizza was provided before the event began and near the end of the event 3 scholarships of $500 were awarded.

The beginning of the presentation talked about the requirements to get into each type of college , such as the a-g courses. There was also some information given out about AP tests, SAT, ACT, and CAASPP and how they affect an individual’s chances of getting into college. There was also some information regarding the average costs of each type of college and also how students could apply for FAFSA by explaining which website to go and the resources needed for the application process. An interesting thing that I found out, which I didn’t know before was that besides your tuition and books, they also pay for your transportation and dorms. A question and answer session was held, in which parents mainly clarified any misunderstandings they had about college. A few people asked about transferring from a community college to universities and the guarantee of actually shifting. There were many people present. The whole entire performing arts center was filled up causing some people to have to stand. During the end of the presentation, evaluation forms were collected from the audience regarding the event such as what they liked and what they disliked.
