On January 21st, the James Logan cheerleaders took Deer Valley as their final competition before they hit Nationals in March. We did this competition to get more practice on the mat. We do get used to doing these certain motions and stunts to get comfortable with the mat. Now for the next two months, we do have to make the routine difficult and build up our skills. We are capable of doing much more and I know we can pull it off.
For most of us, it was a hard competition to pull through due to there being winter break and readjusting to our daily life again. We knew it was going to be last time to be on a mat before Nationals. As a team, we are capable of doing so much more, it’s just life does get in the way and causes some up and downs during a competition. This last competition for most of us is something we’re going to use and fix all those mistakes to prepare for Anaheim. In cheerleading, every little thing, even basics, matter the most, so we do have to give it our all to perfection.
We will reflect on this competition and become stronger to give it our all at Nationals. We are a JV/Var combined and most of the team is their first year and are competitively cheering on a Varsity team. We have grown a lot since the beginning and things are getting more tense and difficult but we know this is the time to want to win and make sure we give it our all. This will be a productive 2 months before we hit Nationals in March.
