James Logan Varsity Women’s Water Polo wins yet another game making them an undefeated 7-0 team. They played against Mission San Jose with a final score of 10-2.

Although the season has just begun, the team already knows what their strengths and weaknesses are as individuals and most importantly as a team.

Haley Pulido, varsity’s goalie, said that just knowing the team is there for one another makes her “thrive more and want to be more competitive and try harder.”

However she does believe that one of her biggest weaknesses is simply just communication. “We need communication all the time or we are not gonna get anywhere.”

In order to help improve the team, Haley believes she should condition her legs more because “the main part of the goalie is to tread water and  you rely on your legs the whole time.”

Alina Lam’s strength is her arm and her defense. In spite of this, she is “in the exclusion box a lot because [she] gets called a lot for offensive fouls or defensive fouls” so she needs to work on that throughout the season.

Lam also said that in order to help her team out she should devote more of her time to water polo even though she is in other extracurricular activities.

The coach of the water polo team, Lance Green, believes that even though the team is off to a good start, there is “still a lot of room for improvement. [They] still need to do the little things the right way and do it more consistently.”

Overall, the team has the same goal: to improve, grow, and work together as long as they put in the work necessary to continue to succeed.

If you are an underclassmen interested in water polo, the team encourages you to come and watch these fun games. Who knows, you may want to join after watching these girls play.
