gradeMany students and teachers have different opinions regarding grade breakdowns. Most of the student thinks the grading system should be more based on students’ effort and participation rather than the test’s score.

But actually some immigrant students have a different opinion about the grading system in the US when comparing it to the one in their home countries.

HongKun Gu, a Chinese immigrant student thinks the grading system in America is way much better than the grading system in China.

“In China, your grade is based 100% on your scores in your tests and quizzes.” saids Gu, “You can’t get any points from the homework at all, but if you don’t turn in your homework, you might get punished.”

Gu thinks the grading system in US is fair for him because if he does all of the homework, but doesn’t get a good score on the test, he can still get a good grade on that class.

Omar Guillero, a Mexican immigrant student, thinks the grading system should use numbers instead of letters.
“It would be more accurate and detailed if you use the percentage, there’s a huge difference between a student who got 99% on the class and another student who got 91% on the class.”
