Many students at James Logan High School are thinking about college and any other post secondary plans they may have.

A majority of the students at Logan have plans to go to college after high school whether it is community college, private college or, a public college.

Sarah Hernandez, a senior, said she wants to go to college to further her academic career but to also, “earn a higher paying job in the future.”

Another senior, Trokon Johnson also said he wanted to go to college to further his education and achieve his dreams.

“I want to further explore what I’m good at and have interest in, not the things I’ve struggled at in high school,” said a junior.

While higher education is a motive for many students to want to go to college, many also want to go to college because they believe that it will bring them higher paying jobs.

There are also many also say that college might not be the best choice for them.

“College isn’t for everyone, it depends on the person and their goals,” said a few seniors.

One senior, Kyle Tenchavez, doesn’t think that everything should go to college. He said, “It might not be right for them, they might want to pursue something else and that is completely fine and awesome!”

One student expressed their concern for people who aren’t able to go to college. “It sucks that perfectly capable individuals are denied a job because they lack a single paper they can’t afford.” said a freshman.

Many students feel like grades have a large impact on which colleges they would be accepted to.

“Some grades don’t meet a lot of the colleges requirements,” is what multiple students have said.

Trokon Johnson feels like his grades would benefit him when applying to college.

“I’ve done a lot in high school.” he said.
