Logan kicks off the first week in November with their second annual Heritage Week. Each and every student was encouraged to participate throughout the week and show their culture and passions.

Monday began with Positive Influencer Day

Tuesday Followed with Ethnic Wear Day

Wednesday was Pride Day

And to end of the week, Friday was Movement Day/ Colt Gear.

On Tuesday and Thursday they held club fairs; some clubs sold traditional foods and others sold some of our favorites.

“This week is extremely important to Logan as we are such a diverse school. Giving each and every student the opportunity to express their true selves, we can all show our roots and be proud of who we are, where we come from and be part of our Logan community,” Logan Publicity Commissioner, Jackelin Sanchez said.

With dances, great food, and lots of smiles, the week before a three day weekend was one enjoyed by many.

Senior Paola Garcia

Paola Garcia, a senior at Logan participated on Tuesday by wearing beautiful ethnic wear. From her bright red lipstick to her embroidered colorful shirt and shiny gold Folklorico earrings, Garcia embodied the heritage spirit.

“My heritage is my identity. It allows me to be a part of my community; it influences my point of view; it teaches me values and lessons, and it teaches me where I come from. The history of my heritage is what shapes me today and what continues to make me very passionate,” Garcia said.

Senior Courtney Wan

Senior Courtney Wan participated in heritage week by wearing a traditional piece.

“I’m wearing a traditional Burmese dress today to represent my culture. It’s called a Tomai in Burmese and they usually wear this kind of attire to important events in a temple, parties, stuff like that,” Wan said. “I see my mom in me by wearing this outfit today. If people ask me what I am, I’m happy to say that I’m half Burmese, half Chinese and going to temples to celebrate Burmese events makes me really happy.”

Logan is proud to be built around many cultures, from staff to students each one is welcomed and accepted by our community.
