One of the most anticipated school related activities among every grade has just passed, and here’s what happened:
On May 13th, Juniors, Seniors, and anyone who was asked, went to spend a night at the James Logan prom. Some students may have spent upwards of a month just preparing for this exciting and memorable event.
Pulling up to the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland was a spectacular sight: a white, classic style, eight-story building with large wooden doors guarding the entrance. At the bottom floor was a room full of refreshments, which was another attraction besides the actual ballroom located on the 4th floor.
Now for the floor, which was the main attraction. Outside was a small opening with drinks and a room full of desserts, then 2 sets of double doors leading to a dark room filled with pulsing bright strobe lights, accompanied by loud dance music.
Once you were inside, there was a giant floorboard for dancing, and at the front was the DJ with his mixing board. The dance floor itself attracted a huge crowd, and was filled after an hour into the event. By then, the DJ was blasting his music, and all the students were dancing hard and really getting into it.
The doors closed at 8 and re-opened at 10–not that it mattered since many stayed past the 11 o’clock closing to hang outside the building.
Afterwards, many students drove home, went somewhere else to party, or stopped by a nearby restaurant to get something to eat.
Overall, the party was a unforgettable event and certainly something the underclassmen should look forward to if they haven’t done so already.
