AMC is famous for many things, but one of the things it’s most known for is the nail biting show The Walking Dead. Season 6 of the show will premiere Sunday, October 11th, at nine pm.

Even though it is a good distance away, there has been a spin-off currently going on, Fear The Walking Dead. Warning before reading on, there are spoiler alerts in this article. They’re five episodes in, and I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t a great piece of work.

It hits all of your emotions and makes you question what you would do if stuck in the same situation. The characters are normal human beings, not superheroes, or extremely privileged people. That’s why it’s so easy to link yourself to them and relate to on a personal level. There are tons of tear jerking and heart pounding moments taking place in the show. For example, huge riots burst out before the zombie outbreak is confirmed. A group of survivors barricade themselves in their family barber shop, eventually that barricade gets broken down, that’s when their real journey begins.

The first two episodes were slowly building up to what it is now, a lot of chaos. We’re introduced to three different families, two are linked through marriage, all having their own stories. The third helped the two families escape the riot.

One of the most intriguing characters in this story is Nick Clark, played by Frank Dillane, who is a heroin addict. He’ll go as far as stealing someone’s IV to satisfy his needs. He reminds me of a young Johnny Depp.

Then there’s his sister, Alicia Clark, played by Alycia Carey, who’s longing for the return of her boyfriend who is probably walking, well, dead. The mother of the two, Madison Clark, played by Kim Dickens, is still trying to figure out exactly what is going on. She even leaves the base to explore the ruins of the city.

Her husband in the show, Travis Manawa, played by Cliff Curtis, is trying his best to help the army, but not by killing any walkers. His ex-wife, Liza Ortiz, played by Elizabeth Rodriguez, also known for her great role in the popular Netflix series Orange is the New Black, uses her nursing experience to help the sick. Their son Chris Manawa, played by Lorenzo Henrie, is the curious one, wondering if there are people out there who need help.

The family who took them into their barber shop to escape the riots turn the plot left and right, which is a good thing. The older man, Daniel Salazar, played by Rubén Blades, whose barber shop was ruined in the riot goes as far as capturing and torturing a US Soldier to get information.

His daughter, Ofelia Salazar, played by Mercedes Mason, was having an affair with the man her father is torturing in the depths of the basement where they live now. She doesn’t mind, as long as the army returns her sick mother from quarantine.

Sadly, there is only one more episode left in this season of Fear The Walking Dead. The scenes they reveal of the last episode look thrilling and exciting. The show has already renewed for a second season, so I recommend catching up with it now before it’s too late.
