The classic Disney animation, Beauty and the Beast, is finally being adapted into a modern motion film, ready for the big screen.
The overwhelming popularity for vintage princess movies to be remade into 21st century dramas is nothing new; we have seen this with stories like Cinderella and Snow White. However diehard Disney fans have been ecstatic ever since the bare mention of a Beauty and the Beast remake. The trailer has then released, only gaining the movie more attention, and now a minute long clip starring Emma Watson (who will be playing Belle), has been charted number 3 on Youtube’s top trending list. The two hour long film will be under the genre of a musical, and we get a taste of that in the clip where Watson sings the iconic intro song ‘Belle.’
Although the adaptation is already getting support, not all fans are too pleased with what they are seeing. In the comment section of the Youtube clip, viewers seem to be split right down the middle between people who already love the movie and people who already hate it. Some fans think that the director of the upcoming film, Bill Condon, only chose Emma Watson to play the beloved Belle because it would be presumed that the millions of Harry Potter fans would want to see the movie for Emma (who also plays Hermione in Harry Potter), raking in tons of money for the box office. Others believe Watson is just not fit to play Belle, while the rest think they casted the perfect actress.
Whichever way you lean towards the film, any adaption of a childhood favorite is worth the watch. Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens will be released in theatres, and in 3D, on March 17th
