The Dan Oden swimming pool heater has been broken since mid-February, affecting many students on the James Logan swimming team.
This problem greatly affects those who are in swimming and those interested in joining the swim team.
Due to the heating issue the swim team, this year, has not been able to hold tryouts, practices or meets at Logan.
Instead of practicing at the Dan Oden swimming pool, Logan students are forced to American High School to practice.
Many of the Logan swimmers have voiced their opinions towards the issue of the pool heater.
Sheris Mendiola, swim captain and four-year swimmer, voiced her opinion on this issue, “I think this is affecting our team because we do not swim everyday and do not receive enough swim time because we have to share it with Americans swim team.
“The practices are late at night it inhibits the amount of time we have for homework,” she adds.
Another swim team mate who would like to remain anonymous stated “I like swimming at night because than I dont get tan.”
Since tryouts were held at American, many students were discouraged to go due to the inconvenience.
Since many students didn’t want to go due to inconvenience, the swimming team doesn’t have a huge selection of students to choose from, limiting the swim team from having the most people doing their best in the next years.
Though, this won’t make that much of an impact due to the swim team always accepting new swimmers and having a large swim team, due to the amount of people who try out.
Many swimmers are hoping for the Dan Oden pool heater to be fixed as soon as possible, so the swim team can get back to improving their swims.
