The James Logan Garden Club meets up on Tuesdays after school in room 201 with advisor Ms. Cross. Their meetings usually consist of managing the garden in the 200s.  She does hands on work with the students as well. The purpose of the club is to meet new people and interact with them while gardening. There about 8 members in the club. The goal of the club is to make the campus become more beautiful and greener. One thing that I found out from the club that I didn’t know before was that students can earn community service hours for gardening. There are two benefits to joining this club. It gives students the opportunity to display that they participating in an extracurricular activity, and at the same time earn community service hours to graduate. The club usually lasts about an hour or less. The last meeting ended around 4:15 p.m and had started around 3:30 p.m.

Recently, garden club was working on raised plant beds. Before doing anything, we had to pull out some weeds and water a few plants. Then the club members picked up a few bricks that surrounded plants and the plant beds were to be placed there. Once we finished with the bricks, the soil was also evened out by plowing. Some other members worked on cutting the wood and measuring the exact amount to construct the plant beds. It actually really was nice to be surrounded by plants and little creatures in the sun or being one with nature.
