As Halloween comes around the corner, students are rushing to find the perfect costume or relieved they aren’t dressing up.
For Junior Shabriyya Buksh, Halloween is her favorite time of the year.
“I’m dressing up as an angel for spooky season because it’s my favorite holiday,” Buksh said.
Some students are more reluctant to dress up, however, such as Sophomore Lucy Ruiz.
“I would dress up but I lack the funds for a costume, and the motivation,” Ruiz said with a laugh. “Halloween is fun and all but I’d rather spend my money somewhere else.”
This year, the administration stressed empathy and interconnectedness with the spread of the “We’re a Culture, Not a Costume” movement, making sure students are aware of the offensive costumes. Junior Zilah Kunitz spoke on the issue.
“It’s important that when having fun, people don’t step over that offensive boundary,” Kunitz said. “We should create a safe environment, that reflects the Logan culture as a whole.”
Junior Ashlei La Foucade decided that she’s not dressing up this year, “I’m too old for that but I might wear a mask after school when I’m with my friends.”
