Harvard University is an IVY League school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Founded in September 8, 1636 by the Massachusetts General Court, its history, influence and wealth has made it one of the most prestigious Universities in the world.
The admission rate of Harvard is 5.9%. Some of the general requirements or expectations for applying to Harvard include an average GPA of 4.04 and at least a 34 on the ACT. Most students that were recently admitted into Harvard earned a SAT score of above 2100, with the top 25% earning more than 2350 on the SAT. However, unlike most California schools that emphasize on the SAT, Harvard focuses on ACT scores. The school also expects you to have abundant experience with AP or IB classes.
Being a private school, Harvard is very diluted in its class sizes. 74% of their classes contain less that 20 students. They have about 2,400 faculty members with a student to faculty ratio of 7:1.
Tuition for out of state students is about $45,278, but Harvard offers financial-aid and scholarships to 70% of its students (2007). Room, board and other things boost the fees up to $60,659. Although Harvard in famously known for its Law school, the University offers 12 various college to its undergraduate and graduate students. The colleges are: Harvard Business School, Harvard College, Division of Continuing Education, Harvard School of Dental, Harvard Divinity School, Faculty of Arts and Sciences,Graduate School of design, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Art and Sciences, Harvard Kennedy School,Harvard Law School, Harvard MEdical School, Radcliffe Institute of Advance Technology, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard John A Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
