The Masonic on September 29 was filled with the hustling and bustling of yet another show. The powder room is bursting with girls reapplying their lipstick, the smell of countless scents of perfume and the endless flashes of iPhones for pictures to upload for their blogging lives. The security warmly welcomes the visitors and the Masonic in itself amazes the eyes of everyone. San Francisco, a city known for it’s opportunities especially in the music scene, cordially welcomes yet another celebrity known for her singing success, Christina Perri.
Walking in the streets of San Francisco brings together the amass honking of New York, trendsetters pulling off fur coats and platform heels, urban coffee shops and illustrious music halls. The usual breeze of this city seeps through my face and during these mediocre moments do I feel like I am not just a 17-year-old high school girl, but also a girl that will one day live out the dream she aspires.
The dance floor of the Masonic holds all the general admission tickets fitting there way to the front for the best position to see Christina Perri. With Bruno Mars playing “Just The Way You Are” overhead and the hall filling up with fans and friends ranging from boyfriend and girlfriends, fathers taking their daughters, mothers taking their little girls with self made Christina Perri t shirts and of course James Logan’s own journalism students you could say that this room of people are as diverse in culture and age than the city that holds them.
Christina Perri emerges onto the stage at 7:40 and lights up the room literally with the choice of lighting and the shine she bestows in herself. Taking on a solo tour in San Francisco proves that she is one to watch, drawing in her audience with every song and guaranteeing she can hold an audience on her own. Not a step was missed when Christina went from one end of the stage to the other captivating and interacting with her fans while going from one persona to the next with every song.
Talking to the audience as fellow friends, and proving that she is more than just a singer, but a advocate for self confidence and love, Christina Perri can be seen as a role model for uplifting spirits and making everyone feel they are good enough. When an artist can leave her fans with more than the beats of her last song, but a fresh smile at the end, only than can you determine talent.
