The comedy TV series, Atlanta, is being raved about by millions of viewers.
Without any exaggeration I can tell you that from the first episode aired, I was hooked. This TV show captures the popular and controversial hip-hop scene that has been going on in Atlanta for a while. With actors such as Donald Glover, Brian Tyree Henry and Keith Stanfield this series is already filled with talent. Even with only one season out, this show is blowing up.
What sets this TV show apart from everything else on television is how relatable and realistic it is. Earn, the main protagonist, needs a way to make money for his daughter and his girlfriend and what better way to do this than to manage a rap artist. This is his only choice after having a low income job and parents who want nothing to do with him. Fortunately for Earn his cousin, Paper Boi, is a local rapper who is climbing to the top of the fame ladder. However, with all the success comes drama such as social media beefs, haters and Nigerian club promoters.
Recently, Atlanta won a Golden Globe for best TV series against other shows that have been in airing for years. This is the first FX series to ever receive a nomination in this category, let alone a win. Much thanks is owed to Donald Glover who is the shows creator. Metacritic also gave this show one of the highest scores on its website for tv shows. The second season was confirmed and will be released sometime this year. I’m genuinely excited to see what trouble Paper Boi gets himself into during this upcoming season.
