Word got out that the Giants signed Mark Melancon to a 4 year contract for $62 million dollars. With this addition to the roster, the Giant’s struggle with ninth innings will be no more. The Giants had a little more than 30 blown saves which caused them to lose many close games when Casilla or Romo where on the mound. But now with Melancon, who had 47 saves out 51 opportunities last year, they have that go to guy to finish games for them when they’re up 3 runs or less.
Melancon decided to join the Giants because Ryan Vogelsong, who used to play for the Giants, was very open and said very nice things about the team. This excited him and was very anxious of joining the Giants. Giants fans can finally relax knowing that Mark Melancon will finish games and be a secure closer for the team.
