I still remember it like it was yesterday, walking into my first period class freshman year, smelling gym socks and looking for a friend in the masses that roamed James Logan High School. Realizing that it was in 2013 is such a ridiculous thing to think about because I have grown so much, yet I am still the same person. I am still the same person who was always tardy for her first period, but I am also Senior Class Vice President. Times are changing guys, and I’m not sure how we all are keeping up.

Logan at dawn

Our class is a crazy one, and while I don’t have the pleasure of knowing all of you, I got to tell the few that I know: thank you for teaching me what the real world is going to be like. High School has taught me that every place you go is always like the last. There will always be those who will stick with you, those who act like they will, and those who don’t know enough about you. There is always going to be some “sticky” situation that you have to figure out, and class of 2017, right now the stickiest situation we are in is the deadline for our college applications. But, we have a lot of journeys ahead of us. We are meeting a crossroad in our lives where the people we have known are going to become a memory of the past.

Our future is finally in our hands. It’s scary but it’s also so exciting. Even if you don’t have it all figured it out, you have right now. Every day is another day to figure out who you are and why you’re here. People who think they have everything figured are kidding themselves. We all have a lot of things left to figure out, myself included, but class of 2017, it’s time to get ready for your future.
