There is something other than nocturnal animals that has been lurking in the dark lately.
Since the Halloween festivities have started, people from all over the U.S. are claiming to have seen clowns. These scary clowns have been seen in parks, trails, on the side of the road, and even around a cemetery. Whether these clowns are potentially dangerous or made to be a sick joke, they are still a frightening sight.
In South Carolina, it was said that there were clowns luring children into the woods. This is what sparked the clown sighting phenomenon. Since then, many photos and videos have surfaced the internet of clowns hiding within trees, bushes, and cornfields. They’d even chase after people and cars.
At Penn State University, over 6,000 students joined a “clown hunt” and mobbed the streets in search for clowns.
Thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries or deaths since the clown sighting trend started. Although that is true, people should still be careful when hunting for clowns– who knows what they’ve got up their sleeve.
“I think clown sightings shouldn’t be taken as a joke. No one knows what those clowns are capable of doing,” said a Logan student, who wanted to be remained anonymous for various reasons.
Even people of the White House are taking this as a serious matter.
“This is a situation that local law enforcement authorities take quite seriously and they should carefully and thoroughly review,” says White House press secretary, Josh Earnest.
Moral of the clown sighting phenomenon: Be careful. Whether these are teens or videos recorded to be a hoax, it’s still dangerous. It’s probably not a good idea to go clown hunting to confront the clowns. Have a safe and Happy Halloween ? ?!
