Wednesday, in the pavilion, during fifth lunch the Youth Alive club held a Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by both Outback and Chic-fil-A. I went with a couple friends before the bell rang and there was already a fair amount of students waiting to get inside. The doors opened as the bell rang, so no one was waiting around. The first thing I expected to see was tables of food and such, not the case, and I think a lot of students were confused at first.
Then music began to play and the advisor told us we were going to play a game. Basically, it was rock paper scissors, but every person that lost had to line up behind the person they lost to. That led to a whole chain of students to spread out all over the pavilion. As soon as they found a winner Youth Alive members passed out a half sheet of paper to everyone, asking to fill it in with our information. After that we’d be able to eat.
We all lined up after filling out our sheet and were asked to write on a post-it note what we were thankful for. We sticked the note on a poster and turned in our information to a member. Then we were served. The meal consisted of salad, chicken, bread, rice, and veggies. They even added a cookie for dessert. The food was really good.
As soon as we got our food we sat on the bleachers and listened to the Youth Alive leader talk. The microphone was pretty low but she basically talked about church and having faith.
We were told that we would be texted when they do something like it again.
