The Courier’s First Print Copy

By using a free online website and no budget at all The James Logan Courier just recently made their first paper copy special edition print!

Using the basic templates that the website provided, The Courier staff made a 6 page paper print about the Lockdown that occurred here on campus on February 22nd, 2019. This was a very difficult situation for many as rumors arose and students were in a state of distress. It’s  unheard of that a student on campus is armed and has been involved in a stabbing with another student. This was a very well-organized and informative print, with maps and a timeline included. Most importantly it was all student researched, composed, and organized, with of course the help of the Courier Advisor Mr. Myatt.

About 2,000 copies were made and distributed amongst the school in different locations. The Courier staff spent a whole class period physically folding each and every copy and putting them together. Students were excited to see their final project!

“The hardest part about this was the layout online and trying to make it look eye-catching and something that people would be interested in so they could not only read our paper copy but also follow up on our online website.” said the staff Editor in Chief, Senior Alyssa Tornel.

“I’ve heard lots of good feedback, I even heard someone say ‘Hey, this is actually pretty good.’”

Tornel explains that although they got some good feedback, it’s upsetting to see many of the print copies in classes or in the office and no one reading them.

The Courier staff worked very hard to publish their first print copy. We’re all very proud of the outcome and the hard work we put in. Although it wasn’t easy, we all made it happen. We hope to continue this for next year’s class and set an example for them. We also hope you enjoyed it!
