*WARNING: Spoilers!*

The Commuter starring Liam Neeson is a smash hit of action and drama.

Normally I wouldn’t think to watch a movie with Liam Neeson in it. They always start out fine but as the movie goes on,

there tends to be more action than plotline. This wasn’t the case in, “The Commuter”.

Neeson plays Michael, a family man and insurance salesman, who has commuted to his job almost every day for 10 years. Suddenly one day, he’s thrown a curveball and is fired from his job. He heads home, in shock, but is approached by a mysterious stranger, Joanna (portrayed by Vera Farmiga). She proposes a “hypothetical” scenario that intrigues Michael but he soon realizes she means business. He has to find someone on the train that has information in an ongoing investigation that could ruin the life of whoever Joanna is working for. Once they threaten that his family has been taken hostage by the people Joanna work for, he knows the situation is a lot more dangerous than he thought.

The plot is very predictable and anyone who frequently watches movies will be able to predict what will happen next. However, the way Neeson embodies his character helps keep the audience at the edge of their seat.

It’s a wonder how Neeson is able to not get tired of playing a character whose family is in danger and has to deal with ridiculous tasks to ensure their safety. There are enough twists and turns in the movie to keep you guessing. The best part about this movie is how once you figure out the plot twist, everything else seems to come together.

The movie ended with a chance for there to be a sequel but, in this case, it’s unnecessary. Hopefully, there won’t be one because it might end up being really repetitive and drawn out. The way the movie ended tied up all the loose ends that were addressed throughout the film.

Although “The Commuter” is a very cliche action movie, it still is worth the watch. If you’re into action/drama movies that will make you jump and stay on the edge of your seat, this movie is for you.
