It’s the month of November, which means that winter is slowly creeping in bringing us cold nights and colder mornings. But what comes with November, also comes Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a national holiday that is celebrated on various dates towards the end of November with a tradition of eating turkey and lots of other food for dinner.

We all interpret Thanksgiving in our own way and are thankful for a variety of things, so we went around and asked some of our colts what they’re thankful for.

“What does Thanksgiving mean to you, And What are you thankful for?”

“To me, Thanksgiving is an event where I am surrounded by the people I care about and love, I am thankful for my mom because she provides everything for me.” Junior Kaelynn Florendo

“Thanksgiving means spending time with my family and just having fun also with friends too.” Sophomore Makio Mims

“On Thanksgiving, I eat with my family, my extended family, and my cousins.” Sophomore Jomar Lezada

“It means to spend time with family and being thankful for everything you have in life and enjoying peoples’ company and food.” Sophomore Nanaka Houston

“I’m definitely going to start with my husband, my daughter and my cat, my little family. Very, very thankful that I have them to go home to every day, but also thankful that we live in a place where we can think differently and be different…open and tolerant…Certainly grateful for my friends and good times with them and looking forward to the holiday! Thanksgiving is a time to really spend with your family and forget about anything that’s really bothering you on the news, stuff that really gets you upset or angry and just being grateful for the time and certainly food, I think that’s the most important part!” Librarian Indira Chakrabarti
