Fifth Harmony is the world famous girl group that rose to fame in 2012 when they won third place on The X Factor. The group consists of five young women with amazing vocals, Lauren Jauregui (19), Normani Kordei (19), Camila Cabello (19), Dinah Jane Hansen (18), and Ally Brooke Hernandez (22). Their last release was their debut album Reflection, and a single titled, I’m In Love With A Monster, for a kids movie.
Recently, rumors arose that they would be dropping a single, but fans got a huge surprise when they dropped a song titled Work From Home, along with a video for the song and their second album pre-order. The album is called 7/27, after the date they were formed in 2012, and it drops May 20.
The song itself is a very different sound from anything the girls have ever dropped. The lyrics are very mature. The beat is very calm, but it’s still fun and rhythmic. The song begins with Cabello singing and moves into Kordei, after their two lines end Jauregui leads the chorus. This was a surprise to fans because Lauren did not have a solo on their last single, Worth It, it was a pleasant surprise.
Brooke then begins to sing, and her lines are very different because she usually sing high notes, and then Dinah Jane’s wonderful voice comes in and makes us all love the song more. The song features rapper, Ty Dolla $ign, and I think his verse made the song better than it was without it. He gives a short verse, and that’s all, it gives the song that grown up feel the girls were aiming for. Since it’s release the song has risen on radio charts. and the video has over 3 million views.
I am excited to see what Fifth Harmony bring to the table in this new era.
