Rita’s and Loard’s are both located in Castro Valley, not too far from Union City. They are both dessert places but quite different. They are both delicious places and people should try these desserts because there are a variety of things to choose from. I highly recommend both places especially that it’s getting warmer and sunnier, these are the perfect places to stop by to get cool refreshments.
So Rita’s, is a place where they sell Italian Ice. You’re able to get milkshakes, frozen drinks, blendini, gelati, etc. Italian Ice is your main flavored slushie that will be use with any other desserts. The flavors do change everyday and you are able to milkshakes with frozen custard, and frozen drinks with the Italian Ice. A gelati is Italian Ice with custard, which is what I personally get all the time. It is very good. You do have options for the custard which is Vanilla, Chocolate, or both. Personally, this is my favorite place to go to. Their desserts are very delicious and I highly recommend it.
Loard’s is an Ice Cream and Candy place, you’re able to get milkshakes, sundaes, and candy, floats, etc. This place is from the 1950’s so there is a meaning to that as well. The place has a touch of the 50’s which is pretty cool. There is seasonal ice cream flavors and a bunch of chocolate and sweets. There is a variety of candy and some do come in packages. You are also able to build your own sundae, floats, sweet smoothies, old-fashioned soda and hot drinks like coffee as well. They’re floats are tasty as well. The ice cream is crazy good, I always get the Thin Mint, it is so delicious especially if you like chocolate mint ice cream. I have gone to this place as a child and it always satisfies me.
These places are perfect to stop by with friends or family and get something sweet to eat.
